Formation of "WORLD JAT SAMAJ FOUNDATION" to build a "JAT BHAWAN CAMPUS" at Delhi proposed.

The proposal to build a 'Jat Bhawan Campus' at Delhi had received an overwhelming support. An Adhoc Committee, constituted to consider this proposal, held its meeting at Maharaja Surajmal Institute, Janakpuri, on 20th July 2001 under the chairmanship of Shri Khem Lal Rathee. The meeting was attended by Ch.Rijak Ram, Ch.Kanwal Singh, Maj.Gen.Dr.R.M.Kharb and Prof.Jagdish Kumar Gehlawat from Delhi, Maj.Gen. Dr.Karan Singh from Meerut, (U.P.), Shri Mahipal Malik from Karnal, (Haryana) and Shri Onkar Singh Chahar from Jodhpur (Rajasthan). Also present as special invitees were M/s.Gopichand Tehlan, Zile Singh Sehrawat and Jaipal Singh from Delhi and Shri Jagbir Singh from Meerut (U.P.).

The members were unanimous on the proposal to build a 'Jat Bhawan Campus' at Delhi with modern facilities. A suggestion was made that instead of forming another Trust this project may be implemented by All India Jat Mahasabha. However, in view of the past experiences the majority opinion was to form another world wide organization with a new constitution wherein the Politicians are bared from holding office. As an Apex body, the new organization will naturally interact with all other Jat Institutions in India and abroad. There was a unanimity on the name of "WORLD JAT SAMAJ FOUNDATION".

The chairman, Mr.Rathee, said that the role of the Adhoc Committee was over and that further work should be done by a new Committee. In view of the advancing age, Mr.Rathee expressed his desire to retire from the project. But the members wanted to seek his continued guidance and authorised him to constitute the new committee. There was an agreement on the suggestion that former Chief Justice, Calcutta High Court, Mr.Justice Debi Singh Tewatia may be requested to be the chairman of the new committee.(Mr.Justice Tewatia has since consented to be the new chairman).

The meeting ended with a vote of thanks to the members who came from far off places and to Maharaja Surajmal Institute for making excellent arrangement for the meeting and the Lunch.
